Spring Break

Blake had spring break a few weeks ago and it sure was fun to have him home! He got an extra day also because we got a ton of snow. The weather was too cold to do anything really fun, we wanted to go to the zoo or some other fun places or even just the park! but it was 30 the whole week! We went bowling and Harper loved that! She loves all sports, if it has a ball then she is into it! She currently aspires to go golfing and wants to "wear a hat and golfing shorts", if anyone comes to the house she has to show them her favorite ball and her favorite show to watch is Extreme Sports Mickey.
Here are some pics!

Olivia 4 months

4 Month Stats

Olivia had her official 4 month appointment.

I think she is a good 2 pounds or so smaller than Harper was at the same time. Harper never had a 4 month so I can't compare exactly. Harper was always around the 98th percentile for length so Olivia is a short little gal!

She is a pretty mellow little girl.
She enjoys sitting on her vibrating seat and watching Harper.
She is always working on rolling over.
She doesn't care much for rice cereal.
She likes her formula and downs 5 oz easily at a time
She likes to talk and shout a lot.
She sleeps pretty well at night, most nights she only gets up once but lately she sleeps 10 hours or more at a time.
She is kind of a terrible napper! Seems to be getting better though!
She likes to sit in her jumper and watch Harper run around like a crazy lady.
She likes to chew on swiper the fox.
She likes to sleep all swaddled up!
She hates the car but seems to be warming up to it.
She is usually a fan of her Bumbo seat, sometimes not so much...
She is always trying to sit, she does baby pilates all day!
EVERYTHING must go in her mouth.
Anytime she sees our phones she does anything he can to get one of them in her mouth, it is pretty much impossible to look at a phone around her.
She is a fun little girl and it is exciting to see her grow everyday and her own unique little personality come out!

I wouldn't normally blog about this...

WARNING: TMI
Well the past 2 weeks have had a major theme, a gross theme, but a definite theme. Poop. Yup, its been interesting. I had a lot of those diaper changing moments where you have to think "Okay, how am I going to tackle this one" because there is poop on their front, their back, and their legs. these are the tough issues moms have to deal with.
Olivia has been clogged up pretty much from birth so we escaped diaper blow outs for a long time. Last week everyone had a stomach bug, so she was pooping quite blastily. Then I changed her formula this week and it has become normal baby poop. This means pretty much daily we have an outfit blow out. I don't know what it is about my girls but both of them have a real propensity to blow out full outfits no matter what diapers they have on! One instance she had it all up her back so I got all her clothes off and she was laying on her tummy so I could clean her off and then all of a sudden she rolls onto her back and then back over to her tummy and then back onto her back! Full barrel roll! She had to pick that specific time, spreading poop all over as she rolled, she was pretty shocked with herself.

I have been experimenting with potty training Harper this week, it has gone pretty well all and all. We will go full throttle next week, pray for me! She had a naked day and seemed to enjoy that and did pretty well all day. However about 5 minutes before Blake got home she decided to go in the other room and make a little mess on the floor. She told me about it and I grabbed my rag and Lysol. Luckily it was just a tiny little bit, I thought PHEW! Then I check Harper and somehow she has poop smeared all over her rear and all over her dress she was wearing and now it is all over the potty! I did a bunch of cleaning up and lysoling and explaining why we don't do that and Blake came home to find a naked happy Harper and a "pooped" mom.

Next i decided to experiment with her wearing underwear. We went to Target and I let her pick out her own underwear. She was SO EXCITED about it! She carried her Dora underwear around the store proudly telling every stranger we walked by that she was getting Dora underwear so she can potty. We got home and she insisted on putting them in the washing machine herself and then putting them in the dryer. It was pretty cute how excited she was about it. What was really not cute was the enormous mess the next day was! I cleaned 3 pairs of undies she had decided to poop in, not fun at all, that pursuit ended by 1 o clock! Today I decided it was diaper time again, well that didn't save me either. I was working on the computer and I look up to see Harper with the contents of her diaper all over her shirt and her back and her pants. UGGGHH! So I evaluated the best way to tackle the situation, We ended up with poop all over her back and hair and she ended up with an early afternoon bath! It was after this last disaster that I thought I have to write a blog post about this, as gross as it all is...

Olivia 2 Months

Stats
10 pounds 14 oz
22 inches
about 30th percentile for everything!

Olivia is now 2 months old! We cannot believe it. The time has gone by fast. She is about 1 pound and 2 inches smaller than Harper was at 2 months! She is just a little tiny girl!
She likes to swing in her swing.
She likes to watch Harper run around the house like a maniac. She loves to smile at everyone too. She has started trying to use her hands to touch things, I find her sitting there staring at her hands with a very puzzled look on her face. She is a pretty good little baby. She sleeps alright, usually 4-7 hours at a time at night, not too bad. She likes her bottles and still isn't a big fan of binkies. She REALLY doesn't like the car. She is getting a little better but she pretty much screams her head off anytime we put her in the car, no fun! Her eyes are sort of starting to change, they look right now like they will be hazel colored but we will see. She did a good job with her shots, she seemed like her legs hurt her that night though, so sad!

It's really fun to have one little girl with dark hair and eyes and one with light hair and eyes, and one little one and one big one!

Welcoming Little Olivia! a little late I know...

Olivias Birth Story

Olivias original due date was September 25, 2012. We decided to induce early for a few different reasons; Blake had a ton of tests the week she was due, my mom was coming in a day before her due date and leaving shortly after, and we wanted to make sure we had someone to take care of Harper. So I talked to the doctor and we decided Thursday, September 20th we would go in at 10:00 pm to get things started. My doctor, Dr. Young, told me the day before that we would have her by 5:00 am on Friday. Grandma was able to come in that day as well to help out. So we headed in!

Thursday night was the night of the BYU vs. BSU game so of course Blake was watching that! I think he might have been more nervous about that! The doctor came in to break my water and he started watching the game with Blake HELLO, trying to have a kid here! He said hed be back at 5:00 am to deliver her, he seemed pretty sure of the timing!
When I came in I was at a 3 already. They started the drugs and the contractions started, they werent too bad at first, but got worse and worse and worse till I couldnt handle it any longer! At about 2:30 am I got the epidural and I was at a 7 at that point! Hooray!

The epidural took forever to place. She kept hitting all my nerves and my back kept freaking out! But once she finally placed it I felt much better! It seemed to take forever to take full effect though and I started to feel more and more pressure immediately after. I figured the epidural just wasnt working yet. But the pressure kept getting worse and I had to push! I told Blake and I dont think he took me seriously at first. I said a few minutes later that he better get the nurse because I REALLY needed to push! He called and we waited 20 minutes and no one showed up so Blake called again and was ready to go find the nurse. While all of this is going on I have my legs crossed and I am squeezing them together as tight as I can, like that would actually stop a baby! Around 4 she finally shows up and walks around and does a bunch of stuff then finally checks me and I was ready to go! Duh, I could have told her that! So she hustled off to call the doctor and get things ready.

After 30 minutes of pushing she was here! The doctor asked me if I wanted to "pull her out", I said No Way! But once she was coming he grabbed my hand and put in around her! So I pulled her out! It was really gross but kind of a cool thing. She was born at 5:01 am, exactly 1 minute after the doc said, pretty good guess! She was a pound smaller and 2 inches shorter than Harper and she seemed teeny tiny! I started puking very soon after she was born and that was a lot of fun too.
Harper spent all this time that we were at the hospital with Grandma at home.  They came to visit the next day and Harper was excited to meet her new sister! She seemed to like her right off and was excited to kiss her and see her! Then she started pressing every button in the room and we decided it was time for her to go home. We stayed in the hospital one night and then decided it was time to go home too.

She has been a good little baby from the beginning. We had a lot of issues with breastfeeding. Our attempts to fix this included specialists, tongue cutting, and a bit of crying by all! In the end she wouldn't do it and now enjoys some foul smelling soy formula! All in all it was a pretty good experience. So much better in every way than with Harper, I felt pretty good afterwards other than an intense amount of bleeding, probably the most blood I have EVER seen. We are happy to have her and her big sister Harper is so proud of her.
