Blake finished school on May 13th. Yay! He is so glad to be done with his first year. I am so proud of him and all the work and sacrifice he put into it!
This year we decided to go to Chicago for our anniversary. We left the day after Blake finished school, he wanted to get out as fast as possible. We spent a day with Blake's grandparents in Freeport, Illinois and then continued on our way to Chicago.
We stayed in a hotel by the airport for two nights. It was pretty scary... but at least Harper liked the bed! She would get mad if we moved her to the ground so she spent a lot of time rolling around and playing on the bed.
We stayed there a few nights and couldn't handle it anymore and Blake announced "I hate this place" and we moved to a hotel downtown.
We ate some delicious deep dish pizza at a couple different places. Blake was in charge of the food because he likes to watch a lot of Travel Channel shows on food.
All and all the food was pretty good!

We traveled around the city on the public transportation which meant a lot of waiting, a lot of elevators that smelled like sewage and had pee puddles in them, and a lot of people for Harper to wave at. The trains were fun for me because I have never been on an underground subway system. Quite a new experience.
After the tower we walked over to the Field Museum which is a natural history museum that has the world's largest and best preserved T-Rex fossil! among other things... I was so excited to see that darn dino so we saw her the first day, it was very cool! They also had some ancient Egyptian mummies, I have never seen a real mummy before and it was pretty amazing a little gross though. The building itself is really cool. The building was massive and had a lot of little detail on the interior architecture.

We had a fun time and we would like to go back someday! Its always nice to go on vacation but its also nice to get back home!

Our first day we went up the Sears Tower. The view was really awesome and they had a glass box that sticks out of the side of the building so it feels like you are standing over the city. It was kinda scary!
We went to the zoo, the aquarium and the science and technology museum also. It was a lot of fun! I was so amazed with the architecture in Chicago. Every building is unique and they all had so much detail on them. I don't like big cities in general but I loved the buildings downtown and around the famous Michigan Avenue bridge/ Magnificent Mile. Here is a little mixture of more pictures. Harper was pretty exhausted after all our touring, she liked to crash in the bed most mornings! We got cupcakes for our anniversary downtown and they were pretty good, i loved the banana peanut butter one and already have ideas on how to replicate it.
